On the morning of June 19th, the motley Stakkers crew set forth on an adventurous trip to the Great Metropolis.  Our Jen likes value for money, so the intrepid lads are about to play two gigs in one night.......

"Well," says Jen, "I really like The 12 Bar.  It's so quaint and they put on such exciting new acts.... What's more,  it's just over the road from The Borderline .... and there's a live webcast..... ."

(If you don't know about The Twelve Bar Club, you should.   Visit their site and make sure that you catch one of their excellent live shows when you're in London.)

So here's what happened, then ......

12bar_depths.JPG (30095 bytes) Yes... The 12Bar.... sort of reminiscent of playing in a dungeon on a postage stamp.  And that's not all.  The traffic's hideous and there's a one-way system that takes you via John of Groats and Lowestoft, in order to get the van from Charing Cross Road to Denmark Place.

And can you park ....... ?

What?  ....In London?  ......Not On Your Nelly!

.... And the sound desk?  It's in the broom cupboard.  (HONESTLY ... I'm not making it up!  You ASK them!).  What's more, it used to be the loo...

A Sound Engineer's NIGHTMARE!

Here's Johnny.  We love him.  He rose to the occasion, manfully.

evans'_backside.JPG (15489 bytes) This shot somewhat sums the whole experience up, practically speaking ...

A rather novel view of Mr E. .... sans violin .... .

But we thought on our feet.  We were solution oriented.   And above all .....WE DID IT!

(With great gentlemanly restraint, the band have desisted from beating Jennie up.... for the moment....but they reserve the right to do so, if she ever organises anything quite like this again!)

Even Jimmie mucked in and helped.

(Not the world's most practical person, our Jim!)

rich_12bar.JPG (22266 bytes) The GREAT MAN ended up in the audience.

(Didn't they just love it!

So close .... so CLOSE.......      .)

No, no ..... Mr Walter really isn't trying to escape....although I wouldn't blame him....

("Mind you," says Jen, "If he turns that bass cab up on stage without asking JUST ONCE MORE ....he really will have to run for it!")

12bar_ian.JPG (26935 bytes) And Mr Towers?  A real star, if ever there was one!

So, by half past two in the morning, it's all done and dusted.  We've all spoke to Elessar, who phoned the club from Mitchigan, having watched the show live over the web....

We issue forth, tired and satisfied, ready for the journey home...

And what do we hit?

A TRAFFIC JAM!
